Usain Bolt Issues Public Apology

Usain Bolt Issues Public Apology

World triple sprint record holder, Usain Bolt, is rushing to clarify statements attributed to him by a popular German magazine.

The Jamaican sprint sensation caused some eyebrows to be raised after the article claimed the track star made comments about Jamaican children using marijuana.

According to the article the athlete said “…When you’re a child in Jamaica you learn how to roll a joint…”

In a release issued Monday, Bolt moved swiftly to deny making any such comments, admittedly he confessed to smoking marijuana as a child but never made a statement describing drug use among children in Jamaica .

Bolt said he would like to publicly apologise to the Jamaican people if at anytime it came across as if he was suggesting youngsters in Jamaica “…roll joints.”.

German tabloid BILD reported Sunday that the Jamaican sprint phenomenon also confessed to using marijuana as a recreational drug during his formative years, but said he has not touched it since.

The Olympic triple gold medalist and record holder’s interview with the German tabloid which was done at Boys and Girls Champs recently has received significant traction throughout the world.

In another article published on Saturday in the New York Times, Bolt was quoted as saying that eight (8) time Olympic gold Medalist Michael Phelps who was photographed with a bong was stupid and also that his competitor Asafa Powell tended to “…freak out.” at the big moments.

Lisa Hype Denies Romance With Vybz Kartel

March 17th, 2009

Lisa Hype Denies Romance With Vybz Kartel

Portmore Empire first lady Lisa Hype has denied that she and Kartel are involved in a romantic relationship, and asserted that the raunchy photos are just promotion for her career and the new single, Whine for Me, and nothing else.

“I don’t know what all the excitement is about, Kartel is a professional, me is a professional, we come together and do this shoot to promote the single and that is that,” she said. “I am not having sex with Kartel.”

On the Whine for Me single, the two engage in a seductive conversation that seems to suggest a secret lovers scenario where their passions are threatening to boil over into their personal lives. The song’s opening lines set the stage for it.

KARTEL:Mi waan fi love yu in real life

LISA: When yu touch mi body, that feel nice

KARTEL:Then ah ramping shop for the whole night

LISA: Mek sure yu can love mi till daylight

Other lines such as ‘body hotter than steamed rice’ add to the intrigue.

“That’s just art, and in this case, life is not imitating art,” Lisa Hype laughed. “People just love mix-up and gossip and they don’t understand that entertainment is a business. The Teacha is my mentor, ah him grow mi, no shame no inna the ting, mi respect him, him respect mi, and we ah promote this song fi build the Empire.”

The song’s release was timed with the super-sexy photos featuring with a scantily-clad Lisa Hype posing in the arms of her mentor and boss Vybz Kartel has the Internet world in a tizzy. The photos which show a semi-nude Lisa Hype with Vybz Kartel’s hands cupping her breasts have set tongues wagging all over Jamaica.

The provocative photos show Lisa Hype in a number of interesting poses. In one photo, he is standing behind her cupping both breasts while she looks doe-eyed at the camera. In one particularly erotic pose, she is seated in his lap while his hands cover her pubic area in a V, and she covers her breasts with a come-hither quality. It is not quite clear whether she is wearing panties or not in the photos. In yet another photo, she covers her right breast with her right hand while Kartel covers her left breast with his left hand while she is seated in his lap. In another photo, she stands, facing him, while wearing his candy-striped jacket, her smile and panties.

On the website, www.one876entertainment.com, there have been several comments, some of which were surprisingly supportive. One read:

“I have to enlighten you guys that you need not to take this too personal it’s just business, and sorry to disappoint you but Lisa Hype and Shorty are very good friends likewise Kartel they grew together and are simply two artistes coming together and doing dancehall music in this appropriate form. Call her what you want for taking these pics but you can’t hate on her for going after her dream, she will excel, tek it to dem Lisa Hype you sell off, pretty like Marilyn Munroe.”

Others even sought to defend her.

“All mi a seh is dis, if Lisa Hype want to take pictures like that with Kartel, who fa problem is that? I am 100% sure say the sum of unu “ladies” have some worst picture pan unu camera phone and digital camera, so low the chick. Is only say fi unu biznizz no outa road yet.”

But most of the comments left were scathing, and seemed to come from women who were passing acquaintances of Lisa Hype, one even suggesting that she was a slut.

“Come on Lisa, I’m not a hater but mi can’t respect a woman dat present herself like dis before she even have a hit record…yes sex sells and if you going to sell it,you betta do it right: how u a show di goods before you even see the million dolla suite?..Anyhow the publicity work cuz now I know who she is even though she is like skirmish to me.. sorry Lisa.. I can’t help it.. redeem yourself mama and let me know why I should be a fan.”

Lisa Hype laughed at the comments, especially those that alleged that she had been sexually involved with Kartel for years.

“Some are just haters…mi just a laugh at the whole thing, me and Kartel ah just colleagues, and we are entertainers and people need fi tek dem mind outta the gutter. Some of my female fans may be disappointed because of my tomboy, hustling image but they don’t have to be, this is just a different side of Lisa Hype, the other day I went on CVM Onstage and I got all glamorous for it…as an artiste you have to take chances to market yourself.”

For his part, Vybz Kartel said that “the people miss collabs like this in dancehall, so with the success of the Rampin’ Shop we just followed up with something fresh.”

“Fresh artistes like Lisa Hype who is signed to Adidjahiem/Notnice and is the official first lady. So it was only right to start of her year with a bang.”

And what a bang indeed.

Mavado Rips the B.E.T Runway

February 24th, 2009

Mavado Rips the B.E.T Runway

Dancehall bad boy David ‘Mavado’ Brooks is definitely in full throttle mode as the release of his second album ‘Mr. Brook - A Better Tomorrow’ approaches.

Last Saturday (Feb.21st) while in the Big Apple the Gangsta was one of the specially invited performers at the highly publicised ‘BET Rip The Runway 2009′ fashion event held at the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York and indeed the singjay did not disappoint.

Hosted by rapper Nelly and actress Lauren London, and executive produced this year by Diddy, the excitement of this year’s Rip The Runway was amazing. Full of exclusive performances, celebrity models, designer fashions, and bangin’ music.

This year’s show featured the newest designs from fashion lines such as Sean John, Apple Bottom, Amaya Swimwear, Respect M.E., Zac Posen, and more. Even Snoop Dogg got his fashion on, when he debuted his line as well as that of his wife.

Celebrity models who strutted their stuff included Toccara, Charli Baltimore, 106 & Park’s Terrence J. and Rocsi, America’s Next Top Model winner Jaslene Gonzalez, The Wire’s Lil Snoop, host Lauren London and more. Once again, the event featured plus-sized models, but Toccara almost didn’t fit as the BET host showed up with a much slimmer figure.

Other performers includes Nelly, Flo-Rida, Missy Elliot, T-Pain, N.E.R.D., Webbie, Trey Songz, Ron Browz, Busta Rhymes, The Dream, Fabolous, Keri Hilson, T.I. and last but by no means least Snoop Dogg.
