‘501 Entertainment’ with humble beginnings in the small volcanic island of Montserrat is wasting no time making a name for itself. The 501 family comprises of an amazingly talented entourage that consists of artists, DJs, producers, writers and promoters. The label also owns ‘501 Studios’ located in St. Peter’s, Montserrat. The motto for the studio is “Montserrat First….Then The World”.
Edmund “Khama” Ogarro started the organization in the summer of 2007 and 501 E. has risen from strength to strength ever since. 501 Studios is responsible for hits such as ‘So High’ by Survivor and ‘Driver B’ by Ringtone.
501 Entertainment focuses mainly on Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop music but also produces Soca, R&B, Gospel and Roots. Khama is the primary producer, with ‘Jah Tula’ also producing when on the island. In recent times 501 have started to use original beats with ‘Jah Tula’, Dark Man, Quality and other producers making world-class beats.
The flagship artists for the 501 camp are Ringtone, Prosper and Styles. Ringtone has set the standard for Dancehall music on the island and never ceases to amaze with deep lyrics and exceptional flow. While, Prosper has a unique Hip-Hop style and has a quickly growing fan-base. Styles, a new addition to the 501 family is creating a storm with tracks such as ‘Copper Shot Shower’ and ‘Bubble’. Other prominent members of the 501 crew are Jah Tula, Survivor, Cannabis, Baghdad Boys, DJ Ping, I Cultural and TMP.
501 Entertainment is definitely the future; this extremely talented and versatile group is on the verge of ‘bursting out’ big time on the regional and international scene.
