Prosper


Chances are that you are already familiar with ‘Prosper’ whether you have heard his songs on the radio, saw him live in the Soca Monarch competition or at numerous others shows over the busy Christmas season. Prosper who was born Jamal St. Hill on October 22nd, 1990 in Guyana relocated to Montserrat when he was only 6 months old.

Prosper has being rapping and penning lyrics since the age of 11 and started receiving major success and recognition after joining the 501 Family and releasing the breakout hits ‘Sugar and Spice Girl’ and ‘Hypocrites’. The young artist is mainly a Hip-Hop artist but is also at home spitting on dancehall rhythms and recently experimented with Soca. His latest effort is entitled ‘Last One Standing’ on the ‘Dreadful’ riddim produced by Dmitri ‘Jah Tula’ Tuitt and recorded for 501 Entertainment.

The rapper recently grabbed third position in Montserrat’s first talent search amidst a field of talented vocalists and received rave reviews by all three Judges. His fan base is growing tremendously and is already a crowd favourite among the young generation in particular.

Prosper has being influenced by many artists including Biggy Small, Tupac, Malcom X and Bob Marley. However, the rapper has created a very unique style that differentiates him from the pack. His signature slang ‘You know its your boy Prosper’ instantly gets you in the mood to swept of your feet by Prosper’s deep lyrics and marvellous flow.

The singer enjoys reading autobiographies and playing the steel pan in his spare time. Prosper ultimately aspires to become a business man and one day hope to have his own studio in order to assist young people that are musically inclined. Apart from singing Prosper is a talented song writer and is heavily interested in making beats and producing songs for other artists.
